1. Progressive Discipline
Goodwill Houston uses a progressive discipline approach: (1) verbal coaching, (2) written warning, (3) final written warning with performance improvement plan, (4) termination. Steps may be skipped for serious misconduct.
2. Immediate Termination Offenses
Theft, violence or threats, harassment, working under the influence, falsification of records, and gross insubordination may result in termination without prior steps.
3. Investigations
All disciplinary investigations are conducted promptly and confidentially by People & Culture. Team members under investigation may be placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome.
4. Right to Appeal
Team members may appeal any written warning or termination decision within 7 calendar days by submitting a written appeal to the Director of People & Culture.
