Employee Leave Policy
Vacation, sick time, FMLA, bereavement, and family leave for Goodwill Houston team members.

1. Paid Time Off (PTO) Accrual
Full-time team members accrue PTO based on tenure: 0–2 years: 15 days/year. 3–5 years: 20 days/year. 6+ years: 25 days/year. Part-time team members working 20+ hours/week accrue PTO at half these rates.
2. Sick Leave
All team members receive 6 paid sick days per calendar year, available immediately upon hire. Unused sick leave does not roll over but does not count against your PTO balance.
3. FMLA
Eligible team members (12+ months of service, 1,250+ hours worked) may take up to 12 weeks of unpaid, job-protected leave per year for qualifying family or medical reasons. Submit FMLA requests through Workday at least 30 days in advance when foreseeable.
4. Bereavement
Up to 5 paid days for the loss of an immediate family member (spouse, partner, child, parent, sibling, grandparent, or in-law of the same relation). Up to 1 paid day for the loss of an extended family member or close friend.
5. Parental Leave
Goodwill Houston provides 8 weeks of fully paid parental leave for the birth, adoption, or foster placement of a child, available to all parents regardless of gender. Parental leave runs concurrently with FMLA.
6. Requesting Leave
Submit time-off requests in Workday at least 14 days in advance for planned leave. For unplanned absences, notify your supervisor at least 2 hours before your scheduled shift.
